The last two weeks have gone by in a whizz trying out different things and learning the class routines.
Week 1 began with us sharing about ourselves. What makes each one of us unique and different.
We looked at some of the learner profiles to understand what they meant and how can we develop these attributes in ourselves.
Class essential agreements
We began by watching a short video -
Post the video, we came up with agreements that we as individuals thought were important for the smooth functioning of the class.
We shared our views with another buddy from the class and agreed to the 4 most important from both our lists.
Discussing these with a buddy from another group helped us come up with the 3 most important agreements as per all of us.
Finally, as a class we collectively came up with the ones that we agreed on as the most important ones for the Grade 3 classroom.
Our first Unit of Inquiry - Who we Are
For tuning into our new Unit of Inquiry, we began by playing the 'Anger toss ball' game.
Through the game we realized and concluded that all of us feel angry for different reasons and in different situations.
The next day we saw a clipping on feelings. Post that we all wrote down what we were feeling at that moment and why.
We discussed why we all felt different things even though we were in the same environment since morning.
A small creativity activity helped us understand what is important in order to succeed as a team.
Taking a gallery walk in the class. Looking at pictures and sharing what thoughts it provoked in us.
Unfolding the main idea
We discussed and came up with what attitudes and attributed we would develop through this Unit of Inquiry.
The story seven blind mice helped us understand why everyone feels and thinks differently.
In Language, we are learning about persuasive writing. The story 'I wanna Iquana', taught us what is persuasion. We learnt how to use opinionated words to state our opinions, The story , 'Don't let the pigeon drive the bus!' help us further understand that. As a class we listed down what were some of the things that we wanted or wanted to change in school.
As part of our learning we wrote a letter to Mick Sir to persuade him to get us some new jungle gyms.
Our planning
Finally we were ready to send the email to Mick Sir. Through this we also learnt what is an e mail ID, how one writes and email etc.
Reading Mick Sir's response....
Stay tuned to hear from us soon, trying to persuading our parents for ....?????? Keep guessing!!
In Math, we have been working on making our understanding of place value stronger.
