Unfolding the Main Idea....

The students were divided into smaller groups. The main idea was cut up in words (each on a separate card) and given to them. Their task was to put the words together in a sentence that made sense to them.

??????????????

The students tried to make sense of the main idea and come up with their own edition of the Main Idea.

The way Earth's atmosphere impacts on........

                              Trying in vain different combinations to come up with the main idea......

                                 Earth has atmosphere and impacts on the way people live their lives...

                                             And finally this is what we came up with......

Week three......

Using Games to learn Math.

Math is one of those subjects that must be taught in an exciting way using the child's natural sense of fun to drive home concepts and facts. With imagination one can make the task of learning about numbers easier and more welcome by using games in teaching maths.

 Incorporating games into Math teaching is beneficial for:

• providing students practice with skills.

• giving students ways to apply mathematical ideas to problem solving situations and develop strategic thinking, important aspects of mathematical thinking;

• building students’ interest in and appreciation for mathematics by engaging them in enjoyable activities and challenges;

• supporting the idea that learning can (and should) be as fun as possible;

We have started working on the concept of Place value in the class. To catch a tiny glimpse into how we learnt how to order numbers and solve problems without talking!

Music is an amazing tool for teaching languages, especially to children. Good songs will bounce around in a learner's head long after their lesson is over. Young learners pick up vocabulary, grammatical structures, and the rhythm of the language simply by doing what they already love to do...singing.

We are learning how to write an informal letter. Ms. Amanda came in and taught us a song on how to write a friendly letter through a song.

Making our HW pact using Thinking Hats!!!!

We used the 6 Thinking hats by Edward De Bono to think about "Homework Given".

We shared how we felt about homework, what are the benefits, the disadvantages of homework. We also discussed what we already know about HW and how we an change that so that we would not mind getting HW.

                   Edward De Bono's  six thinking hats.

" Homework "

After a discussion on the same come we finally agreed to homework that would  -
  • not be more than 15 minutes a day.
  • be easily understood.
  • be fun to do.
  •  involve research work and projects sometimes.
  •  be finished on time, however Ms. should not get upset if we don't finish our HW on time.(sometimes
  • sometimes be in the form of games.
